The store employee killed Tuesday night was a suspect in the earlier shooting Tuesday, the Police Department said in a statement.
The detectives encountered the employee in the store and gave him commands that he initially obeyed before he turned and pulled out the gun, the statement said.
No details were provided about the earlier shooting and no identities of those involved in the fatal shooting at the store were released.
