RIMROCK, Ariz. (AP) - A Rimrock man has been arrested for allegedly trying to burn down two trailers including one that had his wife and two teenage daughters inside, authorities said.
Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday that 34-year-old Jerry Follett remains jailed on a $500,000 bond on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, attempted arson of an occupied structure, disorderly conduct with a weapon, endangerment and child abuse.
They said deputies were dispatched to the trailer park around 2:30 a.m. Saturday about a possible arson in progress.
A family member allegedly saw Follett pouring gasoline on the two trailers and trying to light them on fire.
Authorities said Follett’s wife and two daughters - ages 13 and 14 - were in one trailer and the suspect tried to lock them all inside.
The family members managed to escape and waited for law enforcement to arrive.
Deputies said they found Follett hiding nearby, convinced him to surrender and took into custody.
It was unclear Wednesday if Follett has a lawyer yet for his case.
