PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities on Wednesday were trying to determine what caused an early morning fire in a row home that claimed the lives of a woman and her teenage son.

Firefighters found heavy smoke and intense flames when they arrived on the scene in the city’s Point Breeze section.

Firefighters pulled the 39-year-old mother and her two children from the home. She and her 14-year-old son died at Jefferson Hospital.

Her 12-year-old daughter was in stable condition at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Authorities have not released their names.

The city’s fire marshal’s office was handling the investigation.
