WHITESBURG, Ky. (AP) - Three people were killed and two were injured in a head-on traffic crash in eastern Kentucky, police said.
The collision happened Thursday evening on Kentucky 15 bypass in Whitesburg, Kentucky State Police said in a statement. An initial investigation found a northbound Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Gregory Branham, 58, crossed the center line and struck a southbound vehicle driven by Karen Jackson, 70, the statement said.
Both drivers and one juvenile passenger were killed, and two other passengers were air-lifted to Pikeville Medical Center for serious injuries, police said. The names of the passengers weren’t released and police didn’t say which vehicle they were riding in.
It appeared that seatbelts were being used in one vehicle, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
