Democratic presidential nominee Joseph R. Biden was ready and willing to talk about his favorite milkshake flavors this weekend until the subject turned to his son Hunter.
The former vice president was on the campaign trail in North Carolina over the weekend when two questions by reporters elicited very different responses.
“Mr. Biden! Mr. Biden! What flavor did you get,” exclaimed one reporter Sunday.
“We got one vanilla, one chocolate, but I wanted to get what we call black-and-white. … We’re gonna split it,” he said while flanked by granddaughter Finnegan in Durham.
“I have one more question. The FBI is —,” the reporter continued before immediately being waved off by Mr. Biden.
“Thank you!” a member of the candidate’s team said as Mr. Biden was ushered way.
The incident, viewed more than 2.5 million times on Twitter, echoed another exchange Friday night in which CBS News reporter Bo Erickson was chastised for asking Mr. Biden about a New York Post exposé on Hunter’s business dealings during the Obama administration.
“I have no response,” Mr. Biden said Friday regarding his son’s time as a Bursima Holdings executive. “It’s another smear campaign, right up your alley. Those are the questions you always ask.”
The Delaware computer repairman who examined the laptop gave it to the FBI and former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, now President Trump’s personal attorney.
