JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A 91-year-old Mississippi man was killed Friday in a crash involving an 18-wheeler hauling cattle.

The incident happened about noon at an intersection of Highway 27 in Copiah County, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said.

The driver of a Dodge Journey, 91-year-old John T. Walker, of Crystal Springs, reportedly crossed into the path of the 18-wheeler, Cpl. Marcus White told news outlets.

Walker was pronounced dead at the scene; his passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment of “life threatening injuries,” troopers said.

The driver and two occupants in the tractor-trailer were not hurt.

The crash is under investigation.
