WARREN, Mich. (AP) - A man was charged Tuesday in the deaths of a 6-year-old boy, the child’s father and a woman, three slayings that have been linked to drugs in the Detroit area.
Nicholas Bahri, 37, of Bloomfield Hills appeared in a Warren court on 15 charges, including first-degree murder. He asked for a lawyer and was returned to jail without bond.
Detroit police on Oct. 1 found the body of Tukoyo Moore, 31, in a burned-out car. Investigators contacted Warren police to notify the man’s family. Police then found the bodies of Moore’s son, Tai’raz Moore, and Isis Rimson, 28, in the basement of a house. They had been shot, too.
“The execution-style killing of a baby - a 6-year-old - has shaken not only the tri-county area, but has shocked the nation,” said Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said, adding that the murder of a child is “even intolerable in the criminal world.”
Dwyer said the U.S. Attorney’s Office is aware of the case. If police can show the slayings were related to drugs, it’s possible the government could take over and pursue the death penalty in federal court.
“It was all about drugs and money,” Dwyer said.
