LONE JACK, Mo. (AP) - A 9-year-old boy has been killed and three others - including two other children - have been injured in a crash near the western Missouri town of Lone Jack, authorities said.
The crash happened around 12 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 and a county road, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Investigators said a northbound car, driven by a 31-year-old Leavenworth man, failed to yield and pulled in front of an eastbound car driven by a 28-year-old Wichita man, leading to the crash.
A 9-year-old boy in the northbound car was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene of the crash, the patrol said.. His name has not been released. The Leavenworth man driving and a 12-year-old boy in the car where taken to a hospital with injuries. Another 9-year-old boy in the eastbound car suffered minor injuries and also was taken to a hospital, officials said.
Lone Jack is about 25 miles southeast of Kansas City.
