MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department says it will be finishing up some road and parking area improvement projects in four state wildlife management areas in the Champlain Valley through mid-December.

The projects in the Snake Mountain, Dead Creek, Little Otter Creek, and Lewis Creek wildlife management areas will be completed using unanticipated federal funding that must be used up by the end of the year, officials said. All areas will stay open but there may be delays at times, officials said.

“We recognize that this is an unfavorable time of year to conduct this work, which could interfere with hunting access and other activities on these lands,” Wildlife Biologist Amy Alfieri said in a written statement.

But due to the funding timeline, the project must be completed during this time frame, Alfieri said.

The projects range from making improvements to the goose viewing area road in Dead Creek to upgrades to parking areas in the Lewis Creek area.
