TAUNTON, Mass. (AP) - Two Massachusetts police officers suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries when they were struck by a vehicle while investigating a crash, authorities said.

The Taunton officers responded to the crash just before 6 p.m. Friday, according to a statement from Chief Edward Walsh posted on Facebook.

While the officers were conducting the investigation, another vehicle drove through the crash scene and struck them, according to the statement. They were both taken to the hospital.

They were treated, released and are recovering at home, Walsh said.

The driver of the Volkswagen that struck them was not hurt, stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

No names were made public.
