RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A federal grand jury has indicted a Virginia man on several charges, including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and receiving images of child sexual abuse, prosecutors said Wednesday.

The U.S. Department of Justice said in a news release that on March 8, Ryan J. Millican, 22, of Henrico helped with making a false written statement to a sporting goods store to acquire a .556 caliber rifle. The indictment also said that from around March 8 through April 25, Millican was in possession of the rifle and ammunition despite being prohibited from doing so because of a previous conviction for misdemeanor domestic violence.

Millican is also accused in the indictment of making an explosive device on April 18, and the indictment said Millican knowingly received child pornography around June 14,

If convicted, Millican faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years on the child pornography charge, and a maximum penalty of 45 years in prison on all charges.
