NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A north Louisiana appeals court judge has won election to the state Supreme Court.

Jay McCallum of the state 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal won Tuesday’s race to replace the retired Justice Marcus Clark. He defeated 3rd Circuit Judge Shannon Gremillion.

In New Orleans there will be a runoff between two state judges to replace retiring Justice Bernette Johnson. Nobody in that race got a majority of the vote. The first-place finisher was Judge Piper Griffin of Civil District Court in New Orleans. The second-place finisher was 4th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Terri Love.



The runoff is Dec. 5.
