LAS VEGAS (AP) - Uninsured Nevada residents can enroll for health coverage on its state-operated exchange Nevada Health Link starting this week.

Insurance plans are available to those who do not qualify for Medicaid or Medicare or do not have employer-sponsored insurance. The enrollment period began on Sunday and will continue through Jan. 15.

There are 50 plans on the exchange, which is nearly double the amount of options there were in 2019, said Heather Korbulic, executive director of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange. Every plan covers coronavirus-related testing and diagnoses.

The plans all cover the 10 essential health benefits, including coverage of pre-existing conditions as mandated by the Affordable Care Act, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. Dental and vision plans are also available.

There are currently 77,000 residents that are purchasing insurance on the exchange.

Those who enroll by the end of the calendar year will have health insurance coverage effective Jan. 1, 2021. Those who enroll between Jan. 1 and Jan. 15, 2021 will have coverage effective on Feb. 1.
