Many self-serving people who think of themselves as being liberal might consider me a racist because I treat Blacks as equals. There are exceptions, people to whom I don’t measure up, such as Thomas Sowell, Condoleezza Rice and Candace Owens, because their credentials far exceed mine.

When I express criticism of people with whom I have nothing in common by deploring a lifestyle that is contrary to mine, liberals label me a racist, not a snob. Yes, some of the people I criticize are Black, but many are not. Those who deem themselves flawless, and in their own eyes holier than thou, will focus on my critique of certain Black people. Such individuals are the real racists, because by demanding we treat specific groups differently we stigmatize those groups as inferior.

Denying people the experience of pride by using their own initiatives to deal with adversity while well-meaning “progressives” (if there are any) display phony empathy in order to diminish their own guilt does a disservice to young Black people. It prevents them from standing on their own feet. Pride in one’s own accomplishments nourishes the soul.
