HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) - Authorities on Tuesday released the name of a man found shot in his crashed car in Holyoke last week.
Police and firefighters responding to reports of a two-car crash early Friday afternoon found one of the drivers trapped and unresponsive in his vehicle, according to a statement from the office of Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni.
Once the victim was extricated from the car it was discovered he was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he was pronounced dead, according to the statement.
He was identified as Robert James, 52, of Agawam.
The death is being described as a homicide and remains under investigation by city police and the district attorney’s murder unit. No additional information was released.
