LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say a person was struck and killed while jay-walking, making for nearly 90 traffic=related deaths in the city so far this year.

Authorities say the collision occurred just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday near Durango Drive and Flamingo Road.

According to a witness and other evidence, a Mercedes was heading south on Durango when the 36-year-old pedestrian attempted to cross outside of the marked crosswalk.



The Mercedes hit the pedestrian, who paramedics pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

The incident, the 89th traffic=related fatality in Las Vegas this year, remains under investigation.

In a separate incident Sunday afternoon, a 49-year-old woman was also hit by a car while jay-walking. She remains hospitalized with critical injuries.
