OPINION:
There are many, including some of President Trump’s supporters, who think investigating and litigating voting fraud is a waste of time and money because even if all fraudulent votes, voters and abettors were identified and prosecuted, the outcome wouldn’t change. In other words, it is the result, not the preservation of election integrity, that is important to these people.
Our country has seen this same mindset applied before. The desired result was trumpeted by those who had the power to make it more important than preserving the integrity of the Justice Department, the FBI and the House of Representatives (all of whom had sworn to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution). As more and more of this disregard for the law and truth is exposed by Judicial Watch and others, many say, So what? It helped our agenda.
Each time a crime is committed but ignored, rationalized or not prosecuted, it gives the lie to those who support such actions but nevertheless claim support for the rule of law. We have moved a long way from the expectation that criminals will be held responsible, and arrived at a point in our history where crimes, if they further the agenda of those in power, are ignored or even praised.
Someone should ask Joe Biden if he will have his FBI investigate and his attorney general prosecute voting fraud to ensure that all future national and local elections are as free as possible of fraud.
