SALEM, Conn. (AP) - A school bus with two adults but no children aboard rolled over on a state highway in Connecticut on Monday morning, injuring both people.

State police said the bus crashed shortly after 6 a.m. on Route 85 in Salem. The driver, 40-year-old Andrea Malarkey, of Willimantic, was flown by helicopter to Hartford Hospital with serious injuries. The passenger, Stephen Kasevich, 62, also of Willimantic, was taken to a medical clinic with minor injuries, troopers said.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear and remained under investigation. State police said the bus was traveling southbound when it ran off the road, struck a mailbox, hit a rock wall and rolled on its side.

The two-lane road, a major artery to the New London area, was closed for several hours before reopening shortly before 9:30 a.m.
