WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) - A 61-year-old man was fatally stabbed in his own home on Halloween night, authorities say.
Police in Waltham received a call from the victim, identified as Kevin Fitzgerald, at about 8 p.m. on Saturday reporting that he had been stabbed, according to a joint statement from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Waltham police Chief Keith MacPherson.
The victim told police that he had been attacked by a man he was unable to identify.
Responding officers found the victim alone. He was taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The stabbing remains under investigation and no arrests have been made. It is not clear if the attack was random, the statement said.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is encouraged to contact investigators.
