SOMERVILLE, Mass. (AP) - Massachusetts authorities are investigating a crash involving a Somerville city employee that killed a pedestrian earlier this month, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office said Tuesday.
The office said 40-year-old Leah Zallman was hit by a pickup truck at an intersection at around 1 p.m. on Nov. 3.
The Somerville resident was found unresponsive at the scene. She died from her injuries at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston the following day.
The driver, who authorities have not identified, remained on scene. Ryan’s office said the city worker was on duty at the time of the crash but was operating his personal vehicle.
Ryan’s office said the preliminary investigation suggests he’d been attempting to take a left turn when he struck Zallman. No charges have been filed so far and the investigation is ongoing.
