OPINION:
It escapes me to try to understand two major factors in this election. One is why social media giants and others who became billionaires are now doing everything they can to defeat the one person in this presidential race striving to keep America the land of opportunity. Why do people like Mark Zuckenberg, Bill Gates and Mike Bloomberg — who became so wealthy under our capitalist system — use their wealth and position to undermine our great system?
The second factor deals with the cries of left-wingers, starting with Barack Obama, that we have institutional racism in America. Yet what have these screamers done to help Black people in the inner cities governed by Democratic mayors, and in most cases in states run by Democratic governors? Where is the support for the Trump “Platinum Plan,” which includes “Opportunity Zones” and charter schools to give youngsters an opportunity to learn and get ahead? Where is support for Mr. Trump’s generous grants to historically Black colleges, money to enable more Black students to afford college? Or support for his prison-reform bill, which would allow early release of many Black inmates?
Then there is the failure of the “racist” screamers to say or do anything about the abysmal failure to denounce the killing of Blacks by Blacks in many large cities, such as Chicago, New York and Baltimore. Don’t the thousands of Black people killed in these cities count as much as one Black person refusing a legal order by a cop and ending up killed? No riots for the former, only for the latter.
