LOS ANGELES (AP) - A construction worker died at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday after a steel column collapsed, airport officials said.
The accident was reported shortly after 6 a.m. at the construction site for the airport’s automated people mover, the airport’s interim CEO Justin Erbacci said.
Police officers and paramedics tried to revive the worker, but the person died at the scene.
Erbacci said the project will be shut down for two days while police and the state Division of Occupational Safety and Health investigate the cause of the accident.
