NEW HAVEN, Vt. (AP) - A man died after he was hit by a truck on U.S. Route 7 in New Haven, Vermont State Police said.

The incident was reported at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigating officers learned that the unknown male had been struck by the northbound tanker truck.



The preliminary investigation found the truck was traveling approximately at the speed limit.

The victim, who has yet to be identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. It does not appear that speed, alcohol or drug impairment played a role, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
