RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A 15-year-old in Virginia was hospitalized after a relative allegedly shot him inside the family’s home by accident, authorities said.

Chesterfield police found the teen with a non-life threatening gunshot wound after they were called to a Richmond home Thursday, news outlets reported.

An investigation into the shooting found that Chynekqua J. Walker, 19, “inadvertently” struck the teen with gunfire, police told the Richmond Times. They did not specify how Walker and the victim were related.

Walker was charged with multiple charges, including reckless handling of a firearm. Police did not provide details on who owned the weapon, or how the shooting happened.

It was not immediately clear if Walker had a lawyer who could comment on her behalf.
