BREINIGSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say fire claimed the life of a man in an eastern Pennsylvania home.

Nine fire departments responded after drivers on Interstate 78 reported smoke at the Upper Macungie Township home just before 6 a.m. Monday. Chris Kiskeravage, the South Whitehall Township fire commissioner, said arriving crews found heavy fire on the second floor and elsewhere in the structure.

The Lehigh County coroner’s office identified the victim as 73-year-old Ernest Wright. An autopsy was planned Tuesday to determine the cause of death.

State and local police are investigating along with the coroner’s office, and a state police fire marshal is working to determine the cause of the blaze.
