DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A body recovered from the Des Moines River during the weekend was that of an 18-year-old who has been missing for more than three months, police said Monday.
Abdullah “Abdi” Sharif, of Des Moines, was last seen leaving his job at a Target on Jan. 17. His disappearance garnered media attention in Des Moines and prompted several searches involving hundreds of volunteers since January.
Officers responding to a call Saturday found the submerged body. An autopsy found no signs of traumatic injury and a cause of death has not been determined, police said.
