LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas fire officials say one person has died after a house near downtown caught fire.
Firefighters were called to a fire Monday at 5 a.m. and found a fire on the roof of the home.
Witnesses told crews the one-story home has been vacant but is known to be frequented by squatters. When crews extinguished the fire, they discovered one person dead inside a bedroom.
Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Tim Szymanski said no firefighters were injured.
No other details were released.
