JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi’s total number of COVID-19 cases has reached 13,252, according to figures posted Sunday by state health officials.
It was a one-day increase of 247 of the disease caused by the new coronavirus. The death toll rose by nine to 625. More than half the deaths are reported at long term care facilities.
The number of COVID-19 patients reported by state hospitals was 367 - a one-day drop of 66. It marks the first time the number of those reported hospitalized has dropped below 400 in weeks.
Most people recover from COVID-19, but patients with other health problems and the elderly are particularly susceptible.
