PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona’s total of coronavirus cases has climbed above 15,000 with more than 760 known deaths, according to the state Department of Health Services.
Health officials reported 418 new COVID-19 cases Thursday morning along with 16 more deaths.
That pushes the state’s documented total of cases to 15,315 and the number of known deaths to 763.
Authorities said the number of confirmed cases reported each day has risen steadily over the past weeks as more testing has been done.
For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks.
For some - especially older adults and people with existing health problems - it can cause more severe illness including pneumonia and death.
