WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware health officials say the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state has surpassed 5,000.
The News Journal reports that the state has a total of 5,038 confirmed cases and 168 deaths, according to updated figures released Saturday.
Sussex County, which has nearly half the state’s positive cases, reported 2,359 cases, an increase of 67 from the previous day.
Although state figures show that new hospitalizations have been declining, there are 300 people hospitalized, with 64 of them critically ill.
Also on Saturday, the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services acknowledged that three patients at two mental health facilities have died from the virus.
