CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) - A 32-year-old man who was in custody for fewer than 24 hours died Friday at the St. Louis County Justice Center, a county official said.

County Executive Sam Page said the death was not related to the coronavirus pandemic, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

“That’s what the staff have told me, and they’re confident,” Page said.

Five inmates died last year. The most recent was a man who died in December after suffering a stroke.
