MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Morgantown is making it easier for restaurants to have outdoor seating to meet social distancing rules during the coronavirus pandemic, officials said Tuesday.

The city is lifting permit fees for the temporary outdoor dining space and wants businesses to sketch out seating areas and fill out a form to apply for the program. The initiative will run from May 12 to August 31.

Republican Gov. Jim Justice has allowed outdoor dining to resume at restaurants in the state. Next week, restaurants will be able to operate at half capacity under his plan to lift his virus restrictions.
