LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence has hired a new president.
Ronald Graham assumed the post Monday, the Lawrence Journal-World reported. Graham is the former division dean of instruction at Victor Valley College in Victorville, California, and is a member of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma.
The school has operated under interim presidents for more than a year after former Haskell University President Venida Chenault left the office to work on special assignment for the Bureau of Indian Education just days after a federal report detailed allegations of misconduct at the university.
In March 2019, the school announced that Chenault had accepted an upper-level management position within the bureau and would not return as president.
