JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (AP) - Officers have identified a man who shot himself after a standoff with police in Junction City over the weekend.

The man, Damien S. Julien, 39, of Junction City, died after a standoff that lasted several hours Saturday.

Police Capt. Trish Giordano said Junction City officers tried to stop Julien about 1 p.m. Saturday to arrest him on a warrant out of Douglas County, WIBW reported.

Julien refused to get out of his car, brandished a weapon and drove to a Junction City home, where he barricaded himself. Giordano said Julien fired several shots and officers during the standoff.

Officers entered the home about 8 p.m. and found Julien dead of a self-inflicted gunshout wound, Giordana said.
