SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A man was charged with attempted murder after a security guard and a bus passenger were shot and wounded at Syracuse’s train and bus station early Sunday, the Onondaga County sheriff’s office said.

Deputies and Syracuse police arrived at the station around 2 a.m. to find two wounded people and a man with a handgun.

A deputy fired but hit no one, and the suspect was arrested without injuries, the sheriff’s office said. He was identified as 31-year-old Andrew Booker of Wareham, Massachusetts.

The victims were taken to a hospital with leg and abdominal injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Their names were not released but one was identified as a station security guard.

Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said Booker will be arraigned Sunday night. It could not be determined if Booker has a lawyer yet.

The station, called the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center, is a hub for Amtrak trains and several bus lines.
