BOILING SPRINGS, Pa. (AP) - A fast-moving fire roared through a log cabin in Pennsylvania early Monday, killing a woman and a firefighter and seriously injuring the woman’s husband, state police said.
The fire in Boiling Springs was reported by a neighbor around 1:30 a.m., state police said. The cabin was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Jerome Guise, 34, of Boiling Springs, a firefighter with the Mount Holly Springs fire department, was killed when the front porch roof collapsed on him as he helped battled the blaze, the county coroner’s office said.
The body of Jessica Diehl, 36, who lived in the cabin, was discovered on the second floor of the residence. Her husband escaped the flames but suffered serious undisclosed injuries and was being treated at a hospital, authorities said. His name has not been released.
No other injured were reported in the blaze.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
