WATERBURY, Vt. (AP) - The organization that maintains Vermont’s Long Trail is hosting its 24th annual Winter Trails Day with hikes, demonstrations, workshops and more.

The event takes place on Saturday at the Green Mountain Club Visitor Center on Route 100 in Waterbury Center.

Among the activities are 13 free, guided group hikes for all abilities, workshops on winter preparedness and animal tracking, free snowshoe demos and a children’s obstacle course. The activities will be followed by a celebration sponsored by the Burlington Beer Company and The Pizza Joint.



The hikes include Camel’s Hump, Beaver Meadow Lodge and Bingham Falls as well as a 20s and 30s hike to Sterling Pond. Hikers will leave Green Mountain Club between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Hikers are encouraged to bring layers of warm clothing, plenty of water, and snacks and lunch as well as snowshoes or microspikes.
