ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The two people killed Monday in a head-on crash on the Seward Highway were a father and daughter, Anchorage police announced.
Paul Matson, 66, and Lea Matson, 25, died in the crash, police said.
Patrol officers with the Anchorage Police Department shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday responded to a call of a crash at Mile 102 Seward Highway near Bird Creek.
Investigators determined that a sport utility vehicle driven north by Paul Matson slid into the southbound lane and struck a pickup.
Paul Matson died at the scene. Lea Matson was critically injured and transported to a hospital, where she died.
Two adults and a child in the pickup were transported to a hospital with what police called non-life-threatening injuries.
Winter conditions were a factor in the crash, police said.
