PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A man walking along a busy roadway in Philadelphia was struck and killed early Tuesday by a commuter bus, authorities said.

The accident occurred around 5:40 a.m. along North Delaware Avenue, a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority spokeswoman said.

The man was taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead there a short time later. His name has not been released.



The driver was the only person aboard the Route 43 bus at the time and was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
