Rep. Dan Crenshaw blasted Democrats on Monday for some of “the most cynical, disgusting, malevolent actions” in history as a coronavirus relief bill languishes in the Senate.
The Texas Republican excoriated his colleagues for attempting to insert a “wish list” of progressive issues into legislation that has nothing to do with battling the contagion.
“This will go down as one of the most cynical, disgusting, malevolent actions in history,” Mr. Crenshaw tweeted. “Millions are losing jobs while they play these games.”
The Republican said he could confirm that Democrats were demanding collective bargaining powers for unions, increased fuel emissions standards for airlines, and an expansion of wind and solar tax credits, among other issues.
“Do not let them get away with this,” he added. “They are holding America hostage for TOTALLY unrelated progressive policies, and lying to you about it. In less than 24 hrs, Dems have blocked urgent relief for Americans out of work, businesses of all sizes, & our health care system TWICE. Why? To fulfill a progressive wishlist of unrelated policies.”
Democrats, however, contend that Republicans are forwarding a bill that is too friendly toward American businesses.
“The Senate Republicans’ bill, as presented, put corporations first, not workers and families,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement Monday.
“Phase three” of the coronavirus aid bill — legislation with more than $1 trillion at stake — failed Monday due to a 49-46 vote; 60 votes were needed for the motion to pass.
The motion would have begun debate on the package itself.

We are in the middle of a national emergency. This is a good bill. Pass it now. https://t.co/mUsyJZip4H
I can confirm this. This is what Democrats torpedoed the rescue package for.
