SEDALIA, Mo. (AP) - A police pursuit through two west-central Missouri counties ended in the death of a Sedalia man who was not involved in the chase.

Zachary Hancock Bottom, 27, of Sedalia, died after a collision Sunday night in Sedalia, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The patrol said the pursuit began when Henry County sheriff’s deputies tried to stop a stolen truck. The suspect drove into Pettis County.

The driver ran a red light in Sedalia and hit another pickup truck, driven by Bottom, the patrol said. That truck was pushed into a Pettis County deputy’s car. Bottom was ejected and was pronounced dead at a Sedalia hospital.

The driver of the stolen truck suffered moderate injuries. The patrol did not report any injuries for the deputy whose car was struck.
