ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Two people died Monday morning in a head-on crash on the Seward Highway.

Their names were not immediately released.

Patrol officers with the Anchorage Police Department shortly after 10:30 a.m. responded to a call of a crash at Mile 102 near Bird Creek.

Investigators determined that a sport utility vehicle traveling north slid into the southbound lane and struck a pickup.

The man driving the SUV died at the scene. A woman riding with him was transported to a hospital, where she died.

Two adults and a child in the pickup were transported to a hospital with what police called non-life-threatening injuries.

Winter conditions were a factor in the crash, police said.
