COOSA, Ga. (AP) - The investigation into a paper mill fire in Georgia was placed on hold Tuesday so structural engineers could make sure it’s safe to scour the damaged building.

Rome Fire Marshal Mary Catherine Chewning said two locations were being looked at as the possible point of origin of the weekend fire at International Paper in Coosa, the Rome News-Tribune reported.

The fire caused extensive damage to the mill, which manufactures cardboard liner board used in shipping containers. It’s located about 80 miles (129 kilometers) northwest of Atlanta.

Officials spent several hours at the building Monday, investigating the fire while also practicing social distancing because of the new coronavirus.

“We were able to make a lot of headway and are working hand in hand - er, elbow to elbow - with the International paper officials,” Chewning said.

One employee who received treatment for smoke inhalation from the fire was back at work Tuesday, the newspaper reported.
