LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Crew were scheduled to begin work this month to replace a bridge near the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, Kentucky transportation officials said.

The bridge on Grade Lane over Northern Ditch in Jefferson County will close for 90 days beginning on Monday, March 30, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said in a statement. Signs are posted in the area to notify drivers of the closure. The 70-year-old span carries about 10,000 vehicles per day.

The project is part of the Transportation Cabinet’s Bridging Kentucky program. The statewide initiative seeks to reopen closed bridges and improve existing spans enough to remove weight restrictions that prevent use by larger vehicles such as school buses.

The project could be delayed depending on weather conditions, officials said.
