OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The Omaha Public Power District says it has completed repairs on three transmission line towers damaged by last year’s flooding.
The utility spent more than $3 million to reinforce the towers after erosion damaged the bases of the structures. One of the towers now sits in the middle of the Platte River because the river changed course after the flooding.
The utility’s Shane Hanson says the tower structures have been reinforced to withstand the moving water that now surrounds them.
The structures on the Platte also have ice jam protections to divert chunks of ice around them.
