Nevada DMV to announce date for reopening

LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles is expected to announce a date to reopen after shutting down because of the coronavirus.

KVVU-TV in Las Vegas reports that State DMV director Julie Butler will hold a virtual press conference at 1 p.m. Monday to disclose the opening date.

Butler will also discuss new safety guidelines and procedures to prevent spread of COVID-19.

In May, DMV officials said only people whose ability to drive would be impacted could get services within 30 days of the reopening.

The department has already given a 90-day extension on all DMV-issued documents. The extension is for 90 days from the date that officers reopen.
