LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - More than 300 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Arkansas on Sunday. No new deaths were reported.

At least 9.426 people in Arkansas have now tested positive for the virus, according to the State Department of Health. At least 154 people have died.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson said Friday he hoped the state’s growth in new coronavirus cases had begun to level off.

The true numbers are likely higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms that clear up within weeks. But for others, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, the highly contagious virus can cause severe symptoms and be fatal. The vast majority of people recover.
