OPINION:
The concept of history in 2020 is based on mob rule. Don’t like it? It never happened. In fact, go ahead and destroy and remove any record of history as proof that it never happened. The radical minority in the United States today intimidates the populace to stay home and watch while our elected officials pander to any apparent cause, no matter how inappropriate, for a headline and a vote. The courts do not enforce, interpret or see to it that justice is served in accordance with the law. Judges pander to their own social pursuits and to the political leanings of those who appointed them to the bench.
Christopher Columbus did not truly discover America, so tear his statue down. George Washington was never a revolutionary, president or leader, so publish instructions on how a mob can tear down his monument. There was no Civil War in the United States. Richmond was never the capital of the Confederacy and there were no lives lost. Tear down all the monuments. None of it ever happened.
History, good or bad, is history. Slimy politicians bowing to ignoramus gatherings of rabble-rousing criminals in the belief that doing so might further their political interests does not erase history. It just guarantees that it will be repeated.
Is this the new normal? When one political party does not win an election, shall there be no peaceful transition of power? Just topple the symbols and statues that represent all previous generations and hundreds of years of history. After all, a few years in office gives you the right to erase and destroy the legacy left by all the generations here before you.
