SUTTON, Neb. (AP) - A Sutton man has died after a parked pickup truck rolled backward and hit him, police said.
The accident happened late Thursday morning in Sutton, killing 65-year-old Duane McCauley, the Omaha World-Herald reported.
An investigation showed McCauley was standing between the rear of the truck and a stock trailer when he asked a friend to turn the key of the pickup to see whether it lights were working, Sutton Police Chief Tracey Landenberge said. Investigators said the truck was in gear at the time and rolled backward, hitting McCauley.
McCauley was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sutton is located about 30 miles (48.3 kilometers) east of Hastings.
