ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis police say a homeowner shot and critically wounded a man who broke into his home.

The shooting happened about 3 a.m. Thursday in the city’s Walnut Park East neighborhood when the homeowner confronted an intruder inside his home. The 38-year-old man was shot in the arm, back and abdomen and is hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

The 43-year-old homeowner was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Names of both men have not been released.
